Laura Potomová is a writer, photographer and comparativist. She holds a BA in English from the University of Cambridge and an MA in English & Comparative Literature from Columbia University, where she was the recipient of the English Mao Fund and the General Scholarship Fund for academic excellence.
Over time, Laura has acquired the habit of a microscopic gaze. Animated by the New Critical training she received at Cambridge, she tends to produce writing focused on the workings and effects of singular words. Her work exists in the obscure regions between literature, linguistics and philosophy, and often treats the ambiguities that arise from literary perceptions of time and the artifice of the written word. She spends her free time tinkering with film cameras.
Laura was born in Bratislava and raised in Prague. She is currently based in New York City.
